Rosh Hashanah Service

It’s a day of shofar blowing, but the Bible never mentions a shofar.

It’s a day of remembrance, but we don’t know of what.

It is a new year that is not a new year.

It’s a day of a loud sound, but we don’t know of what.

It’s a joyous day, a festival, but in utter contradiction, it’s a day of repentance and preparation for judgment.

It’s a day we can’t decide whether to eat apples and honey, pop streamers, and shout, or to beat our chests in abject introspection.

All this to say, Rosh Hashanah is something of a mystery - a day of mixed themes, worthy of a God beyond reason, who is a mystery beyond all mysteries and yet who has revealed himself to us in such a way that we can know him!

We hope you can join us for this special evening as we unravel the mystery of his mercy!

Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) is the holiest day of the Jewish year and concludes the Ten Days of Awe following Rosh Hashanah. In ancient times, on this one day of the year, the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies to put the blood of the sacrificed animal on the altar as an offering for sin. Through faith in the death of a substitute, a person received atonement, or forgiveness of sin.

But today we have no Temple nor Priesthood nor Sacrifice. Yet our need for atonement has not changed and God’s plan has not changed. Only his provision.

We hope you can join us to discover (or rediscover) how great His provision is!
